Im Herbst 2024 hatte ich den Optimismus, dass mein 2ter Roman noch im selben Jahr fertig wird.
Ok, Nachbearbeitung dauert irgendwie doch länger als man so denkt. 😅

Da ich also noch nichts Neues präsentieren kann, gibt es heute das erste Kapitel von "Pandoras Prozessor Sockel" als Leseprobe. (Die Geschichte ist in sich abgeschlossen, sie bietet dennoch einen Anknüpfpunkt für die Fortsetzung.)

»Halt die Klappe, mir dröhnt der Kopf, da kann ich deine blöden spanischen Phrasen echt nicht gebrauchen«, antwortete Quake.
»Ich hab’s dir gesagt, lass es langsam angehen und komm nach einer Woche noch mal rein um die Implantate nachjustieren zu lassen, aber nein, du wolltest ja nicht auf mich hören.«
»Spar dir die Predigt für später. Hast du was gegen die Kopfschmerzen?«
»Klar hat Tante Shiny was gegen die Kopfschmerzen. Aber erst werde ich mal deine Elektronik prüfen, denn wenn das Tricodin erstmal reinkickt bekomme ich eh keine anständigen Messwerte mehr.«
Die zierliche Frau half dem ein Meter neunzig großen Mann, der einen muskulösen Körperbau wie ein russischer Jahrmarktsboxer hatte, quer durch den Raum rüber zum Diagnosestuhl zu gehen.
Der Diagnosestuhl war ein Sessel mit ausklappbarer Fußstütze aus einem dieser abgeranzten skandinavischen Möbelhäuser. Er war aus Gründen der Standfestigkeit in den Betonboden festgedübelt und mit ein paar Seilen versehen, um nervöse und zappelige Kundschaft fixieren zu
können.
Ächzend ließ sich Quake in den Stuhl fallen.
»Dreh den Kopf mal zur Seite«, sagte sie während sie seinen Schädel bereits mit zwei Fingern rüber drückte und

den Diagnosestecker in die Buchse hinter sein linkes Ohr schob.
Sie ging rüber zu einer alten Tastatur, die mit einem Adapter an einen Kabel-HUB angeschlossen war, der an einen Laptop angeschlossen war, der wiederum mit einem Adapter an einen Bildschirm angeschlossen war. Fast alles in ihrer Werkstatt war mit Adaptern zusammengesteckt und hatte den Charme des improvisierten.
Sie fing an zu tippen.

»Hmmm… Lass mich raten, du hast direkt zwei Tage nachdem ich dir das optische Implantat eingesetzt habe das Ding an die Zielerfassung einer vollautomatischen Schusswaffe gekoppelt und mindestens vier Magazine durchgejagt.«
Er war sich nicht sicher ob das eine Frage oder eine Feststellung war, sicherheitshalber brummte er zustimmend.
»Scheiße, das ist ein Cyberstack Optical 250v2 und nicht der übliche Ramsch aus den italienischen Chipfabriken, der zu fünfundsiebzig Prozent der Zeit sowieso nur mit halber Leistung läuft, weil der billige RAM von denen bei kleinen Schwankungen bereits runterdrosselt.«

Während die braune Plörre durchlief, öffnete sie den oberen Schrank, kramte nach Tabletten und warf ihm eine weiße Pille rüber, die er wie eine ungeschickte Robbe mit beiden Händen schnappte. Dann nahm sie den Becher, schlürfte vorsichtig, verzog kurz das Gesicht. »Du weißt, dass ich dir die Extratour heute in Rechnung stelle. Es ist schon nach zwanzig Uhr, da berechne ich fünfzehn Prozent extra. Gewerkschaftsregelung und so.« Sie lachte kurz auf und Quake verzog das Gesicht, als wenn heute noch jemand in einer Gewerkschaft wäre. »Und versuch mir nicht wieder diese schrottige Cryptowährung unterzujubeln. Nur echtes Geld, am besten Bargeld«, schob Shiny hastig nach.
»Also, willst du mir erzählen wie genau es zu deinem Besuch hier gekommen ist? Immerhin dauert das hier noch etwas und am Ende kostet es dich das gleiche.«
»Also gut«, brummte Quake. »Es begann damit das ich noch schnell etwas erledigen wollte.«

I'm Peter from #Brisbane where The Cat runs the household. A pretty wide range of interests and always keen to learn new stuff.

A life long #doctorwho fan, I love most things #scifi but firmly in the #startrek camp when it comes to Star Trek Vs Star Wars.

Probably have too many subscriptions to streaming channels but have a goal of a minimum 26 books a year to make sure I'm not always staring at a screen.

Other things I find interesting are a good #podcast #food #sustainability #film #wine (love a good pinot noir), hunting down a great gin and cocktail, and '80s music.

I tell people the main reason I go to work is so I can go on holidays as I love to #travel
